Service Engineer – JEOL

JEOL AB was founded in 1973, and JEOL sold it first equipment to Finland as early as 1969.
JEOL is expanding its service organisation and is now looking for a traveling Service Engineer in the technical support segment for electron microscopy. You will be responsible for installation, preventive maintenance, repairs and troubleshooting of electron microscopes mainly in Finland, but sometimes we merge teams so that there can be installations in the rest of the Nordic region, the Baltic region or in the German-speaking countries. Customers consist research institutes and research departments in industries like wood, chemistry, metal and pharmaceuticals as well as universities and colleges. The work involves traveling with approx. 50 overnight stays/year. In the long term, trips to JEOL's development and production units in Europe and Japan are also offered.
Competence and background:
To be eligible for this position, you have a technical education (BA or M.Sc. engineer), for example in electrical engineering, technical physics or similar. It is particularly interesting if you previously worked with maintenance of technical equipment, such as various analysis instruments. You are able to perform systematic troubleshooting in a complex system, including electronics, computers, pneumatics technology and mechanics. You have good knowledge of Finnish and English as our clients speak Finnish and internally we use English.
The position requires a driver's license, and we would like to see that you have access to a car and live within an hour's drive of Helsinki.
Personality:
You should be self-motivated, take responsibility and have good organizational skills. The work is usually done individually, but also in teams with colleagues regarding, for example, the installation phase. As a person, you are curious and easy to learn, very technically interested and passionate about technical problem solving. At first you will visit customers together with experienced colleagues, but eventually you will work independently towards JEOL's various customers. You are service-minded and flexible and you enjoy working independently as well as coming along with different types of people.

Varied but at the same time stable and long-term work with established clients within research. Support and onboarding with the help of experienced and friendly local colleagues in Finland and the Nordics, also continuous training at our main units in Germany and Japan. Independent work with the home office as a base and visits to customers in different parts of Finland, also travel in Europe. Our Nordic administration is situated in Stockholm and in Finland we have a team of 3 service engineers today. You will report to our General Manager in the Nordics who is located in Stockholm.
We pay a monthly fixed salary which reflects your experience. Allowances is paid according to Finnish taxation model.
